No-exam life insurance
Learn who's eligible for faster underwriting, how the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify for acceleration.
Several carriers have introduced accelerated underwriting pathways for applicants within their age and benefit amount guidelines, using your application, prescription data, driving record and other records to reach a decision without a physical exam. Decisions sometimes come through the same day. Every quote displayed here specifies whether that particular product needs an exam, might need one, or doesn't require one.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting doesn't skip verification—your application answers are still checked thoroughly, and a policy issued based on inaccurate information can be challenged for two years. The carrier may request an exam or tests if their records raise concerns, giving you the option to proceed or withdraw.
Who tends to qualify
Generally, applicants under about age 60 requesting coverage within the carrier's underwriting limits, with no serious health concerns and no tobacco use for a year or longer, qualify. Some carriers will accept recent lab results from a doctor visit instead of requiring a fresh exam.
Should an exam be needed, it's typically a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical examiner who comes to your home or workplace in the Placentia area—entirely free of charge. For many healthy applicants, exam findings actually lead to a better underwriting class, so it's not necessarily a drawback.
